Excel Dryer Model XL-BWV Xlerator (208-277V High-Voltage) Hand Dryer with a White Thermoset Polymer/Bulk Molded Compound Cover In 2002, the warm-air hand dryer landscape was forever changed when the Excel Dryer Co. first introduced the Xlerator hand dryer. As the world’s first high-speed hand dryer capable of drying the user’s hands in only 10 to 15 seconds, the Xlerator set the new standard for the entire hand dryer industry. But in early 2016, the Xlerator was internally redesigned & made even better. The motor is now variable speed motor; meaning it can be set to any speed between fastest to slowest. Sound decreases as speed is reduced & dry time increased. The heating element is now adjustable with four settings: high, medium, low & off. With these two variables, the owner can customize the air flow, dry time, sound volume, and energy consumption to fit any application environment. Both controls are accessible only when the cover is removed. In addition, this newest generation of XLerators includes a washable metal mesh filter for more reliable performance. A smart filter sensor is activated should the filter become clogged & is indicated by a visible red LED light. There are six (6) different Xlerator models. The internals components and performance of all six are identical. The only difference in the Xlerator models is the material and appearance of the cover. Specific to the Model XL-BW, a flame-retardant, fiberglass-reinforced white thermoset polymer (or Bulk Molded Compound) is used to form the one-piece, highly-durable, vandal-resistant cover. The white color is through the full thickness of the cover material. Two tamper-resistant, chrome plated bolts secure the cover to the wall plate/motor base. The Xlerator uses a powerful “series commutated through-flow discharge vacuum motor/blower” design. Please note that this listing is specific to the 208V to 277V motor, which is not as common of voltage as the standard 110V/120V. It is important to note that the voltage does not effect the performance of the hand dryer. Higher voltage doesn’t make the dryer work faster or more efficiently. The decision as to which voltage is best for your situation depends on the voltage of the existing or proposed wiring in your building and space available in your electrical panel. Set to the highest speed (20,000 RPM), this powerful yet extremely efficient 5/8HP motor can produce an air velocity of 19,000 lfm (linear feet per minute) at the nozzle or 16,000 lfm at hand level (approx. 4” below the nozzle). At this highest speed, a sound level of 80 to 81 dB is generated by the deflection of the high-speed air flow off the user’s hands (but the variable speed motor can be dialed down to the where the sound best suits the owner’s preference & installation environment). Dry time is an amazing 10 to 15 seconds, which is 3 X faster than standard 30-second hand dryers. But the actual length of the run cycle is determined by the user. The motor and the NiChrome heating element are activated by an infrared optical sensor, and as soon as the user’s hands are removed from under the unit, the drying cycle is terminated. The Xlerator heats the out-flowing air to approx.135°F (from an ambient temperature of 72°F) through a combination of the 970W heating element, friction, and the compression of the air flow.
