While solenoid valves require constant power to hold position, ball valves do not have this large power requirement. Instead, while in the open position, the ball valve will trickle charge an internal capacitor with a negligible amount power. This internal capacitor then allows the valve to shut when the power is cut. These are also full port valves where flow is not restricted. This ball valve is bidirectional, allowing for flow in both directions without issue. It is also slow closing, taking 4-5 seconds to completely open/close, eliminating any potential water hammer effect. The actuator is IP67 rated, the NEMA 4 equivalent, making this valve acceptable for outdoor use. While splash resistant, the valve should not be submerged in water. For convenience, there is a position indicator on the top of the valve. *Consult a chemical compatibility expert for correct seal and valve body material choice.
